As publicised earlier this year, Managementors has chosen to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity throughout 2023 – a charity that works extremely hard to raise money for the world-leading cancer centre, The Royal Marsden. As a charity extremely close to our hearts, we’re determined to hit our £10,000 fundraising target and as a result have hosted various activities across the year to contribute to this incredible cause.

Most recently, we hosted The Reading Rowathon, a two-day charity event which was met with overwhelming support from employees, friends, and the local community.

The Rowathon took place in the bustling centre of Reading, where a collective team of dedicated individuals took rotational stints on a rowing machine, aiming to row a staggering 205km – the distance from Reading to Southend-on-Sea. The challenge was no small feat, but the participants were fuelled by a shared sense of purpose to make a tangible impact on the fight against cancer.

The team rowed tirelessly across two days, in both blazing sun and torrential rain, each stroke bringing them closer to their goal. Our original fundraising target was set at an ambitious £1,500, but the generosity of the community, family and friends proved to be limitless. Over the course of the Rowathon, the collective efforts of the participants and the kindness of donors led to an astounding achievement – a total fundraising amount of just over £3,000!

The funds raised were directly channelled to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. The donation will aid in their vital mission to improve the lives of cancer patients and work towards a future without this devastating disease.

Our Managing Director, Ken Leech expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who supported The Reading Rowathon. “We are absolutely thrilled by the incredible response and generosity from our team members, friends, and the local community. The success of this event is a testament to the collective strength and determination of everyone involved.”

“The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity holds a special place in our hearts, and we are honoured to contribute to their vital work. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support and dedication of our participants and donors. Thank you to all who played a part in making this event a resounding success” Ken added.

The Reading Rowathon serves as a shining example of what can be accomplished when a community comes together to make a difference. We have a number of other events planned for the rest of the year, so watch this space!
