From Late Nights to Level 5: My Journey to CIPD Success in People Management

LinkedIn

“I am proud to say that I have completed all my assessments for my CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management. There were many late nights, adult tantrums and tears but also complete joy when the results hit my inbox. I would be lying if I said I found it easy. Writing essays, using Harvard referencing and being restricted to word counts really took me back to my university days, except now I had the added responsibility of being a mother and having a full-time job. However, it was well worth it.

The core units included Organisational Performance and Culture in Practice, Evidence-Based Practice and Professional Behaviours and Valuing People. Specialist units included Employment Relationship Management, Talent Management and Workforce Planning and Reward for Performance and Contribution.  For my optional unit, I selected Specialist Employment Law. This strengthened my understanding of UK employment law and ethical practice. I have learned about key legal principles that protect both employees and employers, as well as the importance of fairness, transparency, and professionalism when making HR decisions. I now have full confidence in handling people management issues responsibly and ethically.

Through my studies and practical experience, I have gained a deeper understanding of how people management contributes to organisational success and employee wellbeing.  My biggest take away – HR and organisations need to keep evolving as the world around us is ever-changing. In a world where new challenges such as remote work, digital transformation, a greater focus on DEI and changing employee expectations, it is even more important to align workforce strategies with organisational goals to support the wellbeing of employees, support growth and remain competitive.”
