For our 30th year in business, we are proud to support Prostate Cancer UK and Breast Cancer UK as our chosen charities. These are causes that are incredibly close to our hearts, and ones that affect so many individuals, families, friends, and colleagues across the UK.
Cancer touches more lives than many of us realise. Almost everyone knows someone who has been affected, and for us, choosing to support these two charities felt both personal and purposeful. By focusing on prostate and breast cancer, we hope to raise awareness, encourage open conversations, and contribute in a meaningful way to research, prevention, and support services.
Why Prostate Cancer UK?
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, yet it is still something that many people feel uncomfortable talking about. Prostate Cancer UK works tirelessly to fund vital research, improve diagnosis and treatment, and provide support to men and their families at every stage of the journey.
By supporting this charity, we want to help shine a light on the importance of early detection, education, and breaking down the stigma around men’s health.
Why Breast Cancer UK?
Breast Cancer UK focuses on prevention as well as awareness, funding research into the environmental and lifestyle causes of breast cancer. Their work empowers people with knowledge about risk reduction and supports long-term change to protect future generations.
Breast cancer affects one in seven women in the UK, and many of us have seen first-hand the impact it can have. Supporting Breast Cancer UK is our way of standing with those affected and contributing to a future where fewer people face this diagnosis.
Our Fundraising Plans
We’re not just choosing charities in name, we’re already getting stuck in and planning a range of fundraising activities throughout the year to hopefully reach our target of £10,000. These include:
- Participating in Reading half marathon
- A 30km sponsored walk – from Pangbourne to Henley-on-Thames
- Our annual charity raffle
- Various individual activities such as nursery bake sales
- Plus other challenges, events, and team activities during our bi-annual conferences
These efforts are about more than fundraising alone. They’re about coming together, challenging ourselves, and showing our support in a visible and positive way.
